There is a fountain in the center of the lake and a Watch tower is built in the park form where a panoramic view of the lake can be obtained. The water is quite clear here and doesnt smell. One can take a walk round the Lake, Children can play in the adjoining garden specially meant for them, do boating as a boating complex in the lake provides both paddle and row boats.Nilavoor lake is more like a pond. Just by the side of the lake there is a garden. You can do boating in the lake. Apart from the lake there are few attractions nearby. There is a Devi Temple belonging to Kadavu Nachiyar. The puja can be done only on Fridays between 11.00 and 12.00 pm. Locals believe that the goddess is omnipotent and there is a sizeable number on Fridays.. A recent addition is the heritage village created around the thambiran lotus pond in Mangalam village. Velavan Temple dedicated to Lord Murugan is perched atop a hillock. There are innumerable temples dedicated to Lord Murugan, but what makes this temple so special Actually you get a very good view of the Yelagiri valley from this place. There is giant statue of Gadothgajan the son of Bheeman and Idumbi placed in front of the temple. During the months of July and August this is the place for local festivities. Infact in these two months a lot of festivities take place here. Moksha Vimochana Temple is located near the Nilavoor lake. This temple was founded by a saint some 14 years ago. The place around the temple is quite serene that gives the visitors a peace o mind. The temple is a perfect example of the local architecture with tiled roofing. Locals believe that by visiting this temple locals can get rid of their sins. After 42 days to be precise. You do not have any obligation to donate anything here. A must visit for believers. This is nature at its best. The 14 hair pin bends are not any singular place of attraction but they can be found as you start climbing up the Yelagiri hills on the Ghat road, from Poneri. These bends named after famous Tamil personalities offer majestic views from the plains below. Unfortunately if you are driving in a four wheeler you cant stop and take a view or snaps. The space is too narrow to stop your car except for some spots. If you are on a bike its ok to stop. After the 12th bend there is a Telescope point where a Telescope is positioned and you can have view of the plains below that includes Jolarpet railway station and Vaniyambadi. The 14 personalities include Paavendar, Bharathiyaar, Tiruvalluvar, Ilango, Kambar, Kapilar, Auvaiyaar, Adhiyamaan etc. Don`t forget to carry binoculars with you or you may miss spectacular view.
